No matter what time of the day, a delicious baked good is a welcome treat. The Valley has some legendary bakeries that are popular with just about everyone. Here are some of the best:

 

Carlo’s Bakery

A new contender to the scene is at the Venetian Hotel. Carlo's Bakery is owned by the TLC Television Network's "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro. He is a fourth-generation pastry chef who was born into the business and taught by his parents. The new Vegas location is a 55,000 square foot facility where visitors can watch specialties being made before their eyes.

You will find a massive amount of cookies that represent so many flavors it would take a book to describe them. Éclairs are filled with a silky filling that mixes seamlessly with premium chocolate spread on top. This is also a great spot to indulge in a cream puff with a fresh and airy outside pastry plus creamy filling. It melts in your mouth. 

Their specialties can also be sent anywhere in the world.

Chef Flemming's Bake Shop

Chef Flemming Pedersen has been slaving over hot ovens for 40 years. As a Certified Executive Pastry Chef, his creations have become regular events for residents of Henderson and enlightened visitors. His smiling face is a constant at the homey establishment.

Everything is baked from scratch with the freshest ingredients. Traditional European favorites fill the display counters. A must-order is a cinnamon roll. These are lighter than most as a croissant-type dough is used. On top is a frosting that is so good you will be licking the fork for more.

Cakes are another specialty with a wide variety for any occasion. Chef Flemming also is heavily involved in the community. Visit the first Saturday of the month for Scandinavian favorites.

Freed's Bakery

Signature cupcakes have become so popular that the competition to develop new and unique flavors is never ending. One of the top contenders is Freed's Bakery. Currently run by Max Jacobson-Fried, who is the third generation family member to run the business, his list of different cupcake flavors is noteworthy.

Not only will you find chocolate peanut butter morsels but pineapple coconut, cookies and cream and the universally popular red velvet are highlights.

This is also one of the only bakeries in the valley where you can enjoy a traditional bran muffin. The flavorful creations are infused with honey and just the right amount of raisins. The slight crunch at first bite ensures a fine experience.

Freed’s has earned national exposure on the Food Network, $40 a Day with Rachel Ray and Bon Appetit Magazine.

German Bread Bakery

Building a perfect raisin roll can be daunting but not at German Bread Bakery. Not only is it huge but also the combination of dough, raisins and almond paste is memorable.

Owners Jean and Ramona feature a large variety of breads. Their sourdough loaves are made with natural leavening agents for a pure flavor. They prepare not only traditional selections but are always experimenting with new versions as well.

When it comes to cakes you can do no wrong by choosing the Black Forest offering.

During holiday time the list of seasonal cookies, gingerbread and pumpkin seed bread are just a few of the items that continue to be popular. They also import a large number of German food products like knackwurst and frankfurters. 

Spirited community outreach is another constant.
