Okay, you’re looking for an ideal spot to entertain business clients or friends and family when the PGA TOUR comes to town. But, you don’t want just any spot. You want one that is all-inclusive as well as up-close-and-personal to the golf action on the course.

The folks at the Shriners Children’s Open golf tournament, set for Oct. 5 - 9, at TPC Summerlin, have just the answer: cabanas. They are the latest innovation unveiled for the PGA TOUR’s stop in Las Vegas, and they mix golf and business perfectly. Add in dining and drinks with the package, and you’ve got the complete experience. “We unveiled the new cabana product last year, sold 20 of them, and we were off and running,” says Patrick Lindsey, Executive Director of the Shriners Children’s Open. “Our vision is to expand it from there to 30 this year and 40 down the line.”

The tournament, which was first held in 1983, showcases the world’s top golfers. The event has also seen its share of historic moments, including being the site of Tiger Woods’ first professional victory in 1996. Recent champions include Sungjae Im (2021), Martin Laird (2020) and hometown favorite Kevin Na (2019). A cabana for 2022 and beyond will be a great spot to check out who will be next to hoist the trophy at TPC Summerlin.

Inside the cabanas, business deals can be made as the action on the golf course heats up right before your eyes. The site of the cabanas, behind the 16th green and down the left side of the 17th hole, will be an ideal spot for groups of 12 to watch the tournament unfold. “We’d like to create a fun-type atmosphere like at the WM Phoenix Open,” Lindsay says. “It’s at the perfect spot on the golf course, and it lets people enjoy the experience with their own group.”

Each cabana will be 10-by-10 and there are options to purchase one, two or more cabanas if businesses want to include more clients/fans for the four days. “This gives them the ability to have a reserved space that’s just for them,” Lindsey says. “They can bring in clients or family and friends. There’s an upgraded bar and upgraded food options. And all of the food and beverages are included in the package.” The pricing is $18,000 for the four days. That includes 12 tickets per day for each one. There is tiered seating and drink rails and all the comforts of home.

“It’s going to rival what they do in Phoenix,” Lindsey says. “But we do feel like this cabana product is perfect for us here in Las Vegas. They are going to be right in the middle of the action. They will have private restrooms and the food experience stays within the shared venue. It is The Spot presented by LocalIQ, one of our partners. And, we took it one step further. There are waitresses on the lower level who can bring drinks to clients. It’s really an all-encompassing experience.”

Lindsey says if business are interested they may want to check out the availability sooner rather than later. “This is the opportunity to do something fun and special. This is a unique chance to purchase into a hospitality and entertainment option that is only going to grow. There’s room for the foreseeable future and over the next few years. But there is going to be a time where we will have to create a waiting list. We think it’s going to be that popular.”

In the end, Lindsay says the cabana idea is the tournament’s way of filling a need. “We have our goals but accomplishing goals for our clients is vital to ensure we succeed. We always try to evolve our product. We don’t want to sit still. We want to give the fans better options year-to-year and make our event that much bigger and better.”
